Director of Fundraising

Join the Camp Skote Leadership Team!
A key part of keeping Camp Skote free and accessible is building reliable, long-term financial support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and different levels of government. To do that well, we need someone to help lead the way. We're looking for our Director of Fundraising and Development. This is a core leadership role at Camp Skote. We’re seeking a passionate volunteer who will work closely with the Board to help shape our fundraising strategy and then take the lead on making it happen. The role is both strategic and hands-on, focused on building the systems, relationships, and momentum needed to sustain Camp Skote for years to come.


What we need help with

  • Ownership of fundraising and development activities for the organization
  • Working with the Board to create and implement a practical and achievable fundraising and development plan
  • Identifying and pursuing grants, sponsorships, donations, and partnerships
  • Building and maintaining relationships with donors, partners, and funders
  • Creating simple, repeatable fundraising systems and processes that can grow with the organization
  • Leading and coordinating the fundraising committee

Who this is a good fit for

  • Has experience (or strong interest) in fundraising, development, or nonprofit growth
  • Enjoys strategy, planning, and big-picture thinking as well as practical, hands-on work where rubber hits the road.
  • Is comfortable working independently and bringing ideas forward
  • Someone who cares about Camp Skote, wants to help build it properly, and wants to make a meaningful impact in a growing nonprofit

What this looks like

  • Around 4-8 hours per week
  • Mostly virtual / remote
  • Participation in regular board meetings and decision making for the organization

Finance and Accounting Support

We're looking for the Camp Skote accountant! The organization is in need of an experienced and hands-on volunteer accountant to join our team as we move toward registered charity status. This role supports early-stage financial setup, ongoing accounting, and internal reporting.

What we need help with

  • Assist with financial systems setup
  • Support bookkeeping and financial administration
  • Prepare draft budgets and internal reports
  • Support documentation of financial processes and controls

Who this is a good fit for

  • Must be a resident of Canada
  • Enjoys numbers and maintaining thorough and accurate financial records
  • Has significant experience with accounting and reporting, including hands-on experience applying Canadian IFRS / ASNPO
  • Is comfortable working independently in a primarily remote, voluntary role
  • Canadian Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
  • Experience with non-profit financials preferred
  • Experience with Quickbooks preferred

What this looks like

  • Around 10 hours per month
  • Virtual / remote within Canada
  • Participation in periodic meeting with the Treasurer
  • Work is performed under the oversight of the Treasurer and the Board of Directors.
  • This role does not include signing authority or independent financial decision-making.
